Boko Haram now strap bombs to birds – Major General Adeosun

The Commander of a multinational force fighting Islamist insurgents, Maj.-Gen. Lamidi Adeosun, has said that Boko Haram has now resorted to strapping bombs on birds.

The Independent, a United Kingdom newspaper, quoted Adeosun as making this discovery at a meeting with American diplomats and security officials.
The report said Adeosun showed photos of the victims of Boko Haram’s attacks and their latest weapons during the briefing at the Multinational Joint Task Force’s headquarters in Chad on Wednesday.
 
One picture showed a bird with an explosive strapped on its back, demonstrating “a lot of ingenuity,” he said.
Adeosun said his force had received intelligence that ISIS members were being imbedded with Boko Haram, but that the Nigerian terrorist group had not satisfied requirements for greater operational coordination.

FG set to pay pensioners 33 per cent arrears of last salary

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has assured pensioners of the payment of 33 per cent pension arrears and the payment of benefits to Next of Kins (NOKs) of deceased pensioners in the very near future. The assurance is contained in a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications of PTAD, Theodora Amechi, made available in Abuja on Wednesday. The statement quoted Amechi as saying the assurance came during a meeting between the management of PTAD and representatives of the National Union of Pensioners (NUP), the National Association of Retired Paramilitary Officers (NARPO), the Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (ARPON) and the Association of Public Service Retirees.   Amechi said that details of the payment of the 33 per cent arrears would be agreed upon with the various pension groups before payment. Al-Makura accuses cabinet members of sabotaging his government

The Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has accused some members of his cabinet of deliberately sabotaging his government. The governor stated this at the Council Chamber, Government House, during an expanded emergency meeting with heads of boards, ministries and parastals.
