The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has refuted the allegation by Jimoh Ibrahim that its official demanded for $1m bribe before his name could be inserted as the ‘authentic’ candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State. The electoral body in a statement by its National Commissioner in charge of Publicity, Mr. Adedeji Soyebi, in Abuja on Monday, ‎said the Acting Director, Legal Services Mrs. Toyin Babalola never at any point asked for bribe as alleged by Ibrahim. Ibrahim, one of the claimants to the ticket of the PDP   for the election, had claimed that Babalola asked for $1m bribe from him, before the order made by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja Division, could be complied with by the commission. FG set to pay pensioners 33 per cent arrears of last salary

The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has assured pensioners of the payment of 33 per cent pension arrears and the payment of benefits to Next of Kins (NOKs) of deceased pensioners in the very near future. The assurance is contained in a statement issued by the Head of Corporate Communications of PTAD, Theodora Amechi, made available in Abuja on Wednesday. The statement quoted Amechi as saying the assurance came during a meeting between the management of PTAD and representatives of the National Union of Pensioners (NUP), the National Association of Retired Paramilitary Officers (NARPO), the Association of Retired Police Officers of Nigeria (ARPON) and the Association of Public Service Retirees.   Amechi said that details of the payment of the 33 per cent arrears would be agreed upon with the various pension groups before payment. Al-Makura accuses cabinet members of sabotaging his government

The Nasarawa State Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura has accused some members of his cabinet of deliberately sabotaging his government. The governor stated this at the Council Chamber, Government House, during an expanded emergency meeting with heads of boards, ministries and parastals. The meeting was attended by commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries, heads of tertiary institutions and directors of board and parastals.   Al-Makura said, “This meeting is special and unique.
