National Assembly to pass 2016 Budget today

Report reaching DAILY POST has it that barring last minutes changes, the National Assembly will today pass the 2016 budget.

This is coming following Tuesday’s suspension of debate on the budget.
The Senate had adjourned midway into plenary due to the death of Baba Onwana, member representing Nasarawa/Toto federal constituency in the House of Representatives on Thursday last week.

Budget debate which was listed as item 3 on the Order Paper was laid by the Chairman, joint Committee on Appropriations, Senator Danjuma Goje before the formal announcement of the demise of Hon. Onwana by the Senate Leader, Ali Ndume.
Goje on his part expressed firm belief that the 2016 budget would serve Nigerians, while urging Senators to consider it in the interest of Nigerians.
“Mr. Senate President, Distinguished Colleagues, in accordance with the procedure of the Senate, the Senate do receive the Report of the Committee on Appropriations on the 2016 Appropriation Bill”, Goje noted.
But while the debate was about to start, the death of Baba Onwana, was announced, leading the adjournment of plenary.
