Why Buhari cannot curb corruption in civil service – Stakeholders
Some stakeholders on Tuesday in Abuja said for corruption to be totally eradicated from Nigeria, civil servants must be well paid for services they rendered. The view is contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a one-day workshop organised by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS), a political association. The communiqué was jointly signed by Chief Peter Ameh, National Chairman, Peoples’ Progressive Alliance; Mr Tosin Adeyanju, Executive Director, Conscience Nigeria, and Mr Charles Nwoji, Deputy Director, Planning, National Orientation Agency. The stakeholders, who were drawn from various political parties, the media and civil society organisations (CSOs) resolved that corruption existed everywhere but varied from society to society. It said corruption in the civil service was the worst form of corruption that had permeated all societal fabrics.
